Much like Distraxi’s 2021 EP “Castration Fantasy”, “Sporus” draws from the myths and facts surrounding a historical eunuch: this time the story of a slave boy, Sporus, who was married off as Roman Emperor Nero’s wife. “Sporus” uses this story as a vehicle to express inner pain and resentment.
These five tracks are sometimes explosive like a gushing wound, sometimes giddy and suppressed like a thick headache, with screams pressed into the feedback and static like a blunt knife thrust up through taut tarpaulin.

Do I need to explain? A collection of recordings from my friend’s phone of his 5 year old nephew blowing out their vocal cords directly into the tiny microphone.
It’s the result of someone who knows what they want to make and just enough to make it possible (and then did it another 45 times), it’s honestly a sublime example of pure artistic intent and a fantastic example of how important it is to believe in yourself and just channel whatever creative urges you might have into art. It ironically brings me a lot of joy and I hope it will for you too.
